After a busy few days refurbishing the shop, I was just about to leave at 7.30pm tonight when George from Yes Recovery contacted us looking for an emergency repair. After checking, we didn’t have the part in stock but that didn’t stop us. We headed to our suppliers in Glasgow, got the part and carried out the repair having him back in service for 10.30pm tonight.

Nothing better than feeling appreciated. What fantastic feedback to receive.

Love carrying out repairs and have certainly missed it over the last few days so it will be good to be back to normality tomorrow.

Little progress picture. New cabinets in and all wired up. Unfortunately one cabinet has arrived damaged but fortunately it’s the end cabinet so can continue just now with all the work. Now everything needs reorganised and cleaned.

We are carrying out some refurbishment work over the next few days to make better use of the space and help tidy up the front of the shop.

The refurbishment was due to happen in a few weeks time and we were aiming to keep the distribution to a minimum however due to unexpectedly receiving our custom made cabinets yesterday, we’ve had to start the works promptly due to the lack of space to store them.

We will aim to have all works completed by Monday and hope to reopen on Tuesday 3rd September. We will keep you all updated on our Facebook page so keep an eye out for progress or any potential delays.

Initially we remade all the cables for the lights and then decided that it would be a lot better with a new box too and something that made more sense if anyone else was to ever open it up. The old box used multiple different coloured wires now this box simply uses 2.

I was hoping to outsource having our new website built but found this difficult as many builders wanted ownership of the site which I just wasn’t prepared to do as I’d prefer full control so over the last few months I’ve been working away at building this and finally have a workable site up and running. Over the next few months, I’ll be making more improvements to this.

Customer had a problem with stick drift on their controller.

We upgraded both analogue sticks to Hall Effect sticks which are far superior.

You can see in the calibration images that before opening the stick was drifting to the bottom right and after upgrading the sticks they are sitting spot on.

Something I’ve never attempted before however I’ve been practicing and aiming to go to this sort of level of repair so I decided I would attempt it. Anyway, I opened it up to find these 5 caps not sitting where they should be. I managed to replace all 5 of them and get wireless chip working again.

I must add, they look big in the picture but you’re lucky if they are even 1mm in size.

Several weeks ago, I purchased this old Macintosh with an idea in mind.

I wanted to turn this old computer into something quirky that would catch people attention.

After weeks of patience I was able to restore it to its original colour. It’s no longer the yellow stained colour it once was. It’s now more like its greyish colour from the late 80s.

Now it will be on display in the shop and be used for advertising our services and any promotions. Keep an eye out in the shop window. It will be there in the next few days when I finish off the last little bit.

Then come see us today. We’ve been using our own tried and tested method for several years and had major success in repairing liquid damaged devices when our guidance has been followed.

We highly recommend if your device has been liquid damaged then DO NOT plug it into charge to see if it will turn back on and DO NOT use rice to dry it out.

Electricity and Water don’t mix so you should never plug in a device that may still have water in it.

Starch and other particles from rice can get lodged inside the devices inner parts. Yes rice can help absorb some of the liquid and it may work in the short term however it can cause you major issues later that cannot be reversed.
